Foundation at RCN Congress 2015

The RCN Foundation will be attending RCN Congress 2015 in Bournemouth.

The Foundation will be exhibiting during the week on stand P68 where we will have charging stands to charge your mobile devices as well as giveaways- just one way the Foundation is supporting the Nursing community.

On Sunday 21st the RCN Foundation awards will be held as part of the opening ceremony at RCN Congress. The awards are a celebration of impact achieved through the Foundations bursary and Scholarship scheme recipients.

The Foundation will also be introducing a Public Lecture on Tuesday evening which forms part of the Foundation funded Public Lecture Series.

Registered nurse Christie Watson won the Costa first novel award in 2011 for Tiny sunbirds far away, which follows the story of a young girl growing up in Nigeria. Despite her love of writing and publishing a second novel in 2013 Where women are kings, Christie continues to work as a nurse, using her day job for inspiration.

The session is free, but ticketed. Tickets can be collected from the Information Hub at the BIC or secured online by visiting www.RCNBmth.eventbrite.co.uk

Fundraising

RCN Presidents charity

RCN President Cecilia Anim will be fundraising for the RCN Foundation to raise money to fund a bursary for nurses working in disaster zones. She is aiming to raise £5,000 through her justgiving page www.justgiving.com/rcnpresident and text number (test Nurs75 £5 to 70070 to donate £5) Donation envelopes will also be in every delegate bag at Congress and can be handed back to the RCN Foundation stand at Congress. The Foundation has agreed that if she raises the £5,000 we will match it to create a fund of £10k and the Foundation will create and run a fund for nurses wishing to work in disaster zones. If, in the unlikely event, Cecila does not reach her target the money raised will go to support the Foundations existing work.
